A close cousin of nearby St Germain, Chatelet boasts the same winning combination of qualities that have made the former such a hit: eclectic furniture, soft lighting, vibrant decor and a film projector filling the wall with arty and often bizarre slideshows. Perfectly positioned near the Verdi Park cinema, it´s the ideal place for a post, or indeed pre, movie-going tipple. The atmosphere is always bubbly but not deafening and the bar is usually busy without being maddeningly packed to the proverbial rafters. Cocktails are a typical 5€ and bottled beers are 2€, not the cheapest prices in the area but a real bargain considering the frankly superb ambience. It´s not a bar for hardcore drinkers and you won´t see anyone stumbling around in a steaming stupor causing mischief. The clientele tends to be young, bohemian and chatty and the bar staff seems to be predominantly foreign. Featuring possibly the highest concentration of comfy chairs and sofas anywhere in Gracia, Chatelet is an exceedingly cosy venue for a few hours of putting the world to rights over several coffees or caipirinhas.
